Katie has been teaching at Pearl Street since 2007. Her love for teaching is shown through each of her students, ranging in age from 4-70 years old. Katie has studied violin with Kathreen Ryan, and Stephanie Preucil. She is well versed in several styles of teaching, such as Suzuki, classical, modern, and Irish fiddle. Katie also works as a recording session violinist, and is the lead violinist in both the bands “Elephant Gun” and “Positively 4th Street”. Katie’s lesson program includes many fun activities such as group classes and solo and group performances throughout the year!
Kevin has been teaching at Pearl Street Music since 2009 and has been teaching voice for over a decade. Prior to coming to Pearl Street, Kevin served as an adjunct voice faculty at Trinity College (Deerfield, IL) and as a teacher and interim director at Lumen et Vita (Gurnee, IL). In addition to teaching at PSM, Kevin also serves as the Worship Leader at LifeSpring Community Church (Spring Grove, IL). Kevin holds a B.S. in Music from Illinois State University (emphasis in vocal performance) and an M.A. in Religion from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
Ben Abney, age 30, has been a working musician since putting together his first band at the age of 15. He has a degree in music (B.A. in Music Theory and Guitar Performance) and has recorded and toured with bands and artists such as Randy Stonehill, Samantha Crain and Liza Day, along with his own solo and band projects. Ben resides in Crystal Lake and teaches guitar and harmonica at Pearl Street Music in McHenry. His current, primary performance focus is playing “Dylan” in Positively 4th Street, a Bob Dylan Tribute band (www.positively4thstreetchicago.com).
